Castaway Cottage is uniquely situated on both Copacabana Beach and the Cochrane Lagoon. Allowing you to enjoy the best of both worlds - the sun rising over the sparkling ocean and a sunset over the calm waters of the lagoon.
The lagoon offers a tranquil setting and is superb for aqua sports such as canoeing and wind surfing, whilst the beach offers a slightly rougher alternative. Only a few hundred metres up the beach is a large tidal rock pool, a favorite spot with the children.
Walk straight from Castaway Cottage’s private landscaped gardens onto the beach and from there take a short stroll along the beach to cafe’s and restaurants.
Copacabana is a picturesque little beachside community with something for everyone to enjoy. Located on the New South Wales Central Coast between Avoca Beach and McMaster’s Beach approximately 45 minutes north of Hornsby.
Offering a wide range of beaches from some of the best surfing beaches to quieter gentle waves for children, it’s easy to see why the Central Coast is one of the fastest growing tourism areas in Australia.
Located in Copacabana is Captain Cook’s Lookout. It is the highest point on the Eastern Coast of New South Wales and is a popular whale watching spot.

Directions from Sydney
By Car
Just over one hour drive from Sydney or 45 minutes from Hornsby along the Newcastle F3 expressway.
Take the Gosford turn off and follow the Pacific Highway through Gosford passing the harbour on your right hand side. Continue through East Gosford eventually passing over a small bridge as the road becomes the Entrance Road.
About 2 kms later turn right at the Avoca Drive turnoff. (Mobile garage on your right.) Follow through a number of roundabouts, always favoring the Avoca or Copacabana directions.
At the ‘Century 21’ roundabout turn right towards Woy Woy and Wagstaff. Turn left at the Scenic Road/Copacabana roundabout. As you pass through Kincumber the road becomes Cullens Rd.
At the T intersection (Cape 3 Points Road) - turn right to Copacabana.
At the bottom of the hill as you enter Copacabana is a T intersection (Del Monte Place) Turn right and proceed to 245 Del Monte Place Copacabana.
