Sea Acres Rainforest Centre - 72 hectares of rare coastal rainforest, View via a 1.3 km elevated boardwalk, with Enviro-Theatre and Ecology Display Rooms. Located at Shelly Beach just south of the Port Macquarie CBD.

Macquarie Nature Reserve – visit the KoalaHospital Located on Lord Street, a few blocks in from Flynn’s Beach.

The Hinterland - the country roads to the west of Port Macquarie and Camden Haven wind though wonderful scenery, with the odd small village, café, gallery and cottage industry along the way. Ellenborough Falls, the largest single drop waterfall in the Southern Hemisphere is west of Combyne, as is the Boorgana Nature Reserve, with rainforest and abundant plant and animal life. Guided 4WD tours of this area are available.

Boorgana Nature Reserve, Innes View Rd Comboyne, on the western edge of Comboyne Plateau. Rich in wildlife, including wallabies, pademelons, possums, glider possums, bandicoots, tiger quolls, marsupial mice, native bush rats, platypus and bats, as well as over 85 species of bird.

Coorabakh National Park, (gravel roads) Coopernook Forest Way, west of Johns River. The park features dramatic volcanic outcrops (Big Nellie, Flat Nellie & Little Nellie) and sandstone cliffs and escarpments that ring the Lansdowne and Manning Valleys. Animal species include the tiger quoll, masked owl, yellow-bellied gliders, stuttering frogs, sooty owls, wompoo fruit-doves, greater broad-nosed bats, little bent-wing bats and Stephens banded snakes. Bird life includes peregrine falcons, paradise riflebirds, pale-yellow robins, powerful owls, square-tailed kites and rufous scrub birds.

Crowdy Bay National Park (gravel road,) via Diamond Head Rd Dunbogan. Enjoy the splendour of the rugged coastline, sweeping beaches, rocky headlands, sand plains, wetlands and heath lands of Crowdy Head.

Dooragan National Park. Captain Cook Bicentenary Rd Laurieton. Home to North Brother Mountain, 487 metres above the coastal plain, Dooragan offers some of the most spectacular views on the east coast of Australia. North Brother is recognised as one of Australia's best hang gliding locations and on most days they can be seen soaring in the skies above.

Kattang Nature Reserve via Charles Hamey Lookout Rd Dunbogan, Taking its name from the now almost-extinct Aboriginal tribal language group, Kattang combines spectacular coastal scenery with a rich and diverse range of flora and fauna.
